Child Sex Abuse - A Term That Belongs in a Trash Can
I hate the term “child sex abuse” because it’s simply an Orwellian term fashioned in the middle of the most insipid moral panic of my lifetime to confuse people with falsehood. First of all, it ropes in sex with little children and sex with an 18 year old and a 17 year old, saying they’re both “child sex abuse.”
I don’t know how many of you have spent much time around 17 year old girls lately, but I’ve seen enough of them to know that that ain’t no child, especially when we get to between 17 1/2 and 18. There’s frankly very little difference between a 17 year old girl and an 18 year old woman, and men react at an extremely high level to a 17 year old girl, as high as to an any grown woman, so the attraction, said to be a pathology called “pedophilia,” is instead as utterly normal and unmistakably human as you can get.
