The "Pedophilia Is Being Normalized" Nonsense

This is now an article of faith with the vast majority of younger Americans. It’s been hijacked by Republicans as part of their culture war against the Left.

There’s only one definition of pedophilia, and that’s a man who has a sexual preference for little kids under 13. All other definitions are garbage. The word is misused 99% of the time and should be banished from the thinking of any right-minded logical person. The disorder is biological, probably genetic, and incurable.

It’s a solid 2-3% of the adult male population. It’s essentially absent in women. The rate has probably been flat forever. It cannot be “supported” or “opposed” anymore than schizophrenia or Major Depression can be. It can’t be “popularized” either, as the rate is flat. No one can become a pedophile. It can’t show up after age 14, as with all paraphilias. So obviously it’s not increasing.

I don’t see much evidence that the rate of child molestation is increasing, and arrests for it are down 63% since the 1990’s. There is still far too much of it, but the molesters are only rarely caught, as it’s usually in the family, and no one wants to give their loved one life imprisonment.

Even the rate of adult-teen sex may be declining, but this is so hard to tell. The “pedophilia” hysteria includes all of this, which has been the norm for our species for 99.9% of our existence, hence it’s natural and normal behavior. It was even common in our own culture 75-100 years ago, and it’s still practiced in many primitive communities to this day.

Indeed it is normal and legal in most of Europe. I’m not sure the rate is declining, but there is so much hysteria about it compared to when I was growing up that I can’t help but think it must be deterring some people. Is there any evidence that this is going up, down, or staying flat? I’m not aware of any, and fewer teens are having sex now than in past decades.

There’s a lot of publicity about it now as adult-teen sex that was considered normal and low risk when I was growing up is now seen as extremely pathological. So maybe more people are aware of it?

This is mostly a panic reaction against the Cultural Left. They’ve been pushing a lot of strange stuff, but this isn’t one of those things. There’s certainly no effort on the part of the Cultural Left to promote child molestation. There’s been some effort at the compassionate treatment of pedophiles so they don’t offend, but that’s not the same thing. Nevertheless the Right has jumped all over it as “normalization of pedophilia.”

The Cultural Left isn’t even promoting adult-teen sex. Actually it is strongly against it, as the Cultural Left is very feminist, and feminists have been leading the charge against adult-teen sex and even “age gaps” in adult heterosexual relationships, which are now all called “pedophilia.” Further, most Generation Z’s are Cultural Left, and they’re hysterical about this sort of thing. They’re leading the “age gap” and “power differential” hysteria about adult sex too. I’ve never seen a more prudish and puritanical generation.

In short, there’s no such thing. Neither child molestation nor even adult-teen sex are being promoted by either the Left or the Right. Instead there is a lot of hysteria about the latter and conflation of the two. Even age gaps between consenting adults are now characterized as pedophilia by most of the Cultural Left. This has been promoted by modern feminism that sees normal adult male sexuality as pathological.
