This is fascism.

Fascism takes a problem - people being whipped into a frenzy by skyrocketing home and rent prices - and first refuses to try to fix it by increasing supply or stopping banks from buying houses, then redirects the problem onto a scapegoat, in this case, the homeless.

Here the issue in essence is that people are terrified of going homeless for very good reason, so Capital turns their fear into rage (the emotions are similar so it’s not hard) and directs it towards the very people they are afraid of becoming themselves.

That doesn’t seem like rational thinking. Instead it looks like a defense - I’m thinking reaction formation (one of the ugliest defenses).

In the UK people furious about this very same thing get their concerns redirected away from Capital towards a scapegoat, in this case, minorities and immigrants.

I have no doubt that some of these minorities cause problems, but that is not the issue here. The issue is that the minorities and immigrants have nothing to do …
