It’s true most Arab states want to normalize relations with Israel. They recognize that driving Israel into the sea is not realistic. This is why Hamas engineered the October 7 attack.
They made the attack as horrific and egregious as possible, knowing Israel would respond as it has in the past: with brute force directed against civilians, especially since Hamas fighters are embedded in the populous.
Hamas is fully aware that its attack and Israel’s response would foment enough hatred to keep the conflict going for years to come.
So again, the face of the conflict comprises the worst elements of both sides who want nothing less than to destroy the other. Hamas has stated again and again the destruction of Israel is its goal.
For myself, I find it impossible to side with either Hamas or the current Israeli government.
