Considering that I don’t engage in this behavior, I’m going by what I’ve read and what people have told me. California still has an 18 year old age of consent. My understanding is that California generally does not arrest minors for sex crimes unless they are serious or violence is involved. At worst, the state tends to involve social services. Imprisoning minors for consensual sexss has to be the nadir of insanity and hysteria.

From reading around, the statutory rape law in California doesn’t appear to be enforced all that much because unlike the panicked public, most prosecutors apparently do not consider it to be a serious crime if the girl is 16 or 17 years old. Most arrests seem to be for adult men with 13-15 year old girls, and they will definitely put you in jail for that. In fact, a man and a 13 year old girl is prosecuted as child molestation.

When my brother was in jail recently, he was in Protective Custody or PC, and there were a couple of guys in there for statutory rape. …
