The pathological lying that we must all engage in every day in this society if you expect to be able to have a job and support yourself without going homeless is otherwise known as “social skills.”
You heard me right. “Social skills” is mostly the ability to lie your fool head off all day. The bigger of a liar you are, the better your “social skills” are. That’s why I get a cynical look on my face whenever anyone brings up this endless non-subject called social skills.
It’s also why I take a dim view of the social skill charlatans and lazy thinkers. I often refer to social skills as “the 1 million things you can never say and the 300,000 things you can never do.”
It seemed like as an adolescent there weren’t nearly as many of these bullshit rules. And even as a young adult, I didn’t feel real hampered by this stuff.
