Mostly because it is, frankly, dishonest! Some examples from today:

Went to coffee shop. Ordered coffee. I hate the barista. She started it. She started hating me first for no good reason, so I hated her back after a while. Now she is marked as a full-blown enemy. (1)

Anyway I tried to talk to her for a while to see if she would come around, but it was hopeless, so I just started acting cold towards her. I guarantee you she thinks I started it and she did nothing wrong because this is how people are. (2)

Anyway I it was $3.15 and I put my money down, but apparently I put it down a little ways away from her, so she had to reach a ways to get it. After I put the money down, she kept acting like I hadn’t paid her. See, nonverbal communication is dishonest.

That was a lie because she knew full well that I paid her. She was pretending I hadn’t paid her to get me to move the money closer to her so she wouldn’t have to reach for it. angry that I put the money too far from her and expected her…
