An old friend came into the coffee shop today and called me by my last name. No one calls me by my last name in this town, so it took me by surprise. He used to fix my computer and I bought my computers from him.

Problem was he cut back on his computer work, but he lied and said he was still doing it sometimes, though I guess he was. For some reason he started blowing me off. I would call him to ask him about a computer problem and he would always say

Hang on a second.

And then hang up on me. For a while I thought this was a genuine mistake, and I kept calling him now and then asking for help, and he kept hanging up on me in this weird dishonest way.

After a while it made me mad and I said never again am I calling him up. And that was the end of him!

And then I see him in the coffee shop, and he’s all smiles and friendly. So I go over and talk to him. Now you might think it’s a good idea to ask him why he kept hanging up on me for months, but that’s a very bad idea.

Don’t ever bring it…
