Since you are doing new posts and reposting old writings, there is something that I wanted to ask you.

Have you handled the topic of the pentecostal church in the past?

Due to personal reasons and my own observations, there are several things I wanted to write about it regarding Venezuela, and it's spread on other developing countries and diaspora communities. Maybe handle it to you for your reading.

Hi Manuel. Hope all is well with you and yours in VZ.

Materially wise, I'm doing fine. Although I have to distract myself to not get anxious or think too much about the idea of the country being completely delivered to foreign countries, and I couldn't even do much about it. It's a feeling of powerlessness and guilt, so I tend to do activities and topics that I can actually do. There are many things I don't know if they are happening, or can happen.

I'm also a public sector worker, so I'm aware that I would have a very bad time if full neo liberalism were implemented, and surely the place I work would be one of the first things to get shutdown in a right wing government. Haven't seen notable changes yet, although my worry is schemes being made subtlety, without alarming the frog.

It's precisely such things as uncertainty and mental health that I'm connecting with pentecostal evangelism.

I appreciate that you look for me.

I think we have all been taken over - by international capitalism. I'm not entirely against that, but I don't like the military part of it. I think the PRC will want to invest in VZ - I don't think the next US administration will stand in the way of that. Get some Chinese money flowing in there. Shit we could use some too. I hope we get a BYU factory someday.

They already dumped a ton of money into Venezuela and now it’s all wasted.

At Catholic Mass, all we get is those little crackers, and some cheap wine. I live within walking distance to two Baptist churches, maybe I should pop in a and get a free meal. I'd rather not listen to all of their bullshit though.

I prefer the Catholic church - but I respect how you feel. The Pentecostals due tend to serve food, which is nice.

Don't worry about your government going right wing - that won't happen. Hang in there till Trump leaves, which may be sooner than some think. The next US government will be more reasonable.

He doesn’t like evangelicals.

I tend to feel the same way. As I’ve said before, I can walk to two Baptist churches, but I have to drive 3 miles to buy beer from the Muslims. That said, I did visit one of the Baptist churches years ago with my grandfather and they served up some really good food. He was not religious; he just went to visit his friends and neighbors and to eat.

We Catholics just get those little crackers and it’s like we have to beg for them like dogs lol. I’m not a very good Catholic Robert.

It will go rightwing if we order it to. Venezuela is a full colony of the US.

No - they are just co-operating for now - holding out as it were - waiting for a more reasonable US regime. They will be ok. I do worry about the Cubans though - it is horrible what our government is doing there. Hospitals running out of power, patients dying, etc. It’s a fucking war crime.

Robert Lindsay's avatar

I'm worried about Venezuela too. Trump has murdered lots of Cubans.

Why don’t you write it up and send it to me?

Manuel Rodríguez's avatar

Okay. I will write it and send it through PM.

Sorry I've gone way off topic here. I don't think I will get smaller, but I do try to keep a low profile where possible.

Good article. The kinky hair thing was new to me. It makes perfect sense though.
